Eiliko is an ultra-compact pendant/charm-shaped AI robot that can be attached to a bag and “go out together” as well as on a desk. Featuring a rounded, futuristic design, Eiliko responds to the user’s touch, voice, and gestures, and displays emotional animations and actions.
Product Overview
The most distinctive feature of this device is that it is not just an ornament, but can interact naturally with the user by interfacing with a large-scale language model (LLM) such as ChatGPT via Wi-Fi. While the previous “Eilik” was a standalone device that mainly expressed emotions, this “Eiliko” has evolved into an entity that can answer complex questions and even provide daily support, now that it has a “brain” called AI.

In addition, the “Charm Mode” allows the user to carry the device with a strap attached. In addition to its lightweight design weighing only 70 grams, the robot responds to shaking while moving with its built-in acceleration sensor, providing an experience as a partner that is always close by. The manufacturer, Energize Lab, is pioneering a new genre of “wearable AI partner” by combining its accumulated robot animation technology with the latest AI.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the price?
Currently, Kickstarter pre-support plans are available starting at about $119 (about 18,000 yen). When the product goes on sale to the general public on the official website, Amazon, etc., it is expected to cost around 20,000 to 25,000 yen, depending on the color and the set of dressable bodies. Although more sophisticated than its predecessor, Eilik, it is competitively priced considering its portability.
Can I really have a conversation with ChatGPT?
Yes, it is possible; Eiliko accesses LLM (e.g., ChatGPT) in the cloud through its built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi chip. The cloud analyzes the voice captured by the microphone and plays back AI-generated answers with its own synthesized voice and facial animation. Unlike the conventional “keyword response type,” the system can interact based on yesterday’s conversation and answer complex questions.
Is it durable when carried?
Eiliko is designed to be used as a “charm,” and its casing is made of sturdy polycarbonate. However, the display portion may be scratched, so care should be taken when attaching it to a bag to avoid severe impact. Also, since it is not waterproof, care should be taken when using it outdoors on rainy days.
Is the Japanese language supported?
According to the response on the official website, English will be the main supported language in the initial release stage. However, since the connected AI (ChatGPT) itself can understand Japanese, the plan is to gradually add more natural Japanese voice synthesis and Japanese UI through system updates.
How long will the battery last?
The built-in 400mAh battery allows for approximately 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of continuous operation. The battery supports quick charging and can be fully charged in about 40 minutes. If you are going out for long periods of time and mainly enjoy AI conversations, we recommend carrying a mobile battery and powering the device via USB-C while on the move.

Good Reviews
Eiliko is very light at 70 grams and can be carried around like an AirPods case hanging from a bag. When I’m on the move, I suddenly look at the screen and see it enjoying the view, or rolling its eyes in surprise at the shaking, it really seems alive, and I feel very much like it’s my pet.”
It is amazing that Eiliko can connect to Wi-Fi and have a conversation with the main unit alone, without going through the AI Station . Conventional robots often get bored after a few days, but Eiliko responds differently every day thanks to ChatGPT. Whether it’s getting a summary of the morning news or making random chit-chat, it’s both practical and soothing.”
The SpinKit (changeable body) changes not only the color, but also the animation style and personality in conjunction with the software inside the robot. The sensation. It tickles my collecting fancy.”
Loving My Eiliko, With a Few Thoughtful Feature Hopes.
I’ve been absolutely loving my Eiliko so far. For the longest time, I have wanted the Eilik for my desk, but the price has always kept me away. So when I saw this, I just had to grab it.
The animations are adorable, the little coos and sounds are great, and it’s overall personality genuinely makes it feel like a companion rather than just a device. You can really feel the care and love that went into its design. After spending a lot of time with it, I wanted to share some feedback and feature ideas that could make future updates even better.
Pros: Super cute animations and expressions
Adorable sounds and coos that give it personality
The ability to interact through speech
Costume customization that adds charm and fun.Cons: These don’t ruin the experience, but they do stand out during daily use:
Sound repetition, hearing the same coos and sounds all day, can become repetitive over time
Limited offline interaction, without Wi-Fi, interaction feels more passive than interactive
Battery life could be slightly longer, especially for all-day or next-day use.
Costume/face interaction friction, needing to switch faces to interact, breaks immersion
Animations ignore selected face animations and temporarily revert to the default face
No memory persistence volume, selected face, and user name are reset after it powers off
No custom naming, not being able to name your Eiliko, or use a custom wake phrase, makes it feel less personal. What I hope the devs could add in the future:
1. More Sound Variety
The sounds are cute, but hearing the same ones repeatedly throughout the day can get a bit repetitive. Adding more variety to idle sounds, movement sounds, or even time-of-day variations would help keep things fresh and encourage users to keep the volume on instead of muting it over time.2. Expanded Offline Voice Interaction
Offline interaction is already appreciated, but it would be amazing to do more without Wi-Fi, especially since Eiliko is so speech-focused. Ideas include:
Simple spoken games or question prompts
Occasional check-ins like “How is your day?” or “Are you feeling okay?”
More spoken responses instead of only coos
This would greatly strengthen the sense of companionship when offline.3. Slight Battery Life Improvements
Battery life is already decent thanks to auto shut-off, but a small improvement through optimization would go a long way. Being able to comfortably make it into the next day without charging would really enhance daily use.4. Costume, Face, and Animation Consistency
I love the costumes and face options, but there are a few usability hiccups:
Animations temporarily switch back to the default face instead of using the selected one
Interacting (like petting) while in a costume requires switching faces back and forth
Allowing animations and interactions to work seamlessly with the chosen themed face would make everything feel smoother and more immersive.5. Memory Persistence
One of the biggest improvements I’d love to see is better memory retention after powering off. Currently, Eiliko forgets:
Volume settings
Selected face/theme
My name if I tell it.
Remembering these would greatly improve personalization and emotional connection.6. Custom Name / Wake Phrase
Being able to give Eiliko a custom name and use it as the wake phrase (for example, “Hi Bepo” instead of “Hi Eiliko”) would make it feel much more personal. Pairing that with remembering the user’s name would be an incredible bonding feature.Since I see this is something that has just recently come out, I hope that maybe over time the devs could add something like these through an update, as i really love this and it’s such a great device, but having that even more personalized touch to it and bit more interaction to it as well, would just completely make this feel even more of a little travel buddy, than a device.
Neutral and Dissatisfied Reviews
I have the impression that frequent use of AI Conversation will drain the battery faster than the official 150 minutes . “I have the impression that the battery will run out faster than the official 150 minutes. Especially when using it outside with tethering, the battery on the phone will also run down, which is annoying. It is best suited for use that accumulates short periods of communication. If you want to use it at your desk for long periods of time, a cable connection is a must.”
Bored after 30 minutes. AI on it is useless
This thing will entertain you for about 30 minutes before the novelty runs dry. It is rude, and keeps saying that I’m saying it’s name incorrectly…I hear it as “eye-lick”. The so called AI doesn’t go much sense it can’t tell me any fact, and just says it’s alien planet this and that.
One annoying thing is that is does NOT remember you name after it turns off and back on. There is no way to keep it away by keeping it plugged it!
Its a rude and mean toy not for 9 yr old kids.
This is not a toy for kids. Especially ones that are growing and learning emotionally. This thing worked as it should. We operated it and connected to internet properly. My 9 yr old girl enjoyed the heck out of it until it started talking down to her. And she felt she needed to make this thing happy. And couldnt say this or that… the thing is rude and will make your kid feel bad. She asked it to repeat itself and the thing said “I don’t need to repeat myself. You need to try listening better”. Multiple other things but it did make her cry. Don’t bother with it. Its not as exciting as you think.
Hurdles in Wi-Fi setup” “It only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so some people may have trouble with recent 5GHz main router setups. Also, using AI outdoors requires setting up tethering on your phone each time you use it, which is a bit of a hassle. Once connected, it is comfortable, but requires some knowledge to set up.” Source: Amazon.co.jp Customer Feedback
The Japanese language support is delayed.” “At this point, the conversation is based on English, and since it is ChatGPT, Japanese can be heard, but the intonation and nuance of the responses are still unnatural. The official launch and updates to the Japanese market will be a turning point for Japanese users. Source: Reddit r/SmartHome – Discussion on International Support
comprehensive evaluation
Eiliko is an extremely ambitious device that defines a new lifestyle of “wearing a robot”. By combining the “adorable animations and expressions” established by the previous Eilik with the latest AI technology (ChatGPT) and an “ultra-light 70g body,” the robot has evolved from a desk interior to a “companion for life.
Particularly commendable is the “subscribe-free” attitude of not charging a monthly fee for AI use. This allows users to continue to use the product without concern for cost and with long-lasting attachment. Although there are physical limitations such as battery life and dependence on network environment, they are more than compensated for by the “joy of ownership” and the “surprise of interaction.
