Product Overview (What is MISA: Features and Basic Structure)
Fundamentally different from simple robotic devices that extend their operation by docking a hand-held smartphone, MISA is designed to be completely independent, with a large 7-inch touch screen (IPS LCD display), four independently driven wheels, high-performance cameras, microphone arrays, and multiple autonomous MISA is a completely stand-alone design with a large 7-inch touchscreen (IPS LCD display), four independently driven wheels, a high-performance camera, microphone array, and multiple autonomous sensors pre-installed.

The LCD screen, with its adorable digital expression, shows rich animations depending on the situation, facilitating visual communication with family members. The device is also equipped with a cliff sensor (drop sensor) on the bottom of the main unit to prevent falling, an obstacle ultrasonic sensor that detects obstacles in front and calculates an autonomous avoidance route, and a touch sensor that detects human hands, allowing it to move around in complex locations such as “furniture on the floor” and “table edges” common in Japanese housing environments, It can safely and autonomously watch over the family while moving around. The attractive point is that no assembly work is required, and even families who are not good at operating machines can start using the system right away by simply opening the box and setting up Wi-Fi after purchase.
In addition, the system is packaged with a number of practical tools, including thousands of hours of ad-free educational content focused on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to stimulate children’s logical thinking and scientific curiosity, real-time remote monitoring via a dedicated smartphone app called MISA Connect, and high-definition video call The system is packaged with a number of practical tools, such as real-time remote monitoring and high-definition video calling via a dedicated smartphone app, MISA Connect. It is a reliable partner for the modern smart home, combining dynamic monitoring and active communication through autonomous movement at a high level, something that conventional stationary smart speakers have not been able to achieve.
Summary of key points (MISA features in a short time)
What is MISA?
- This fully independent family AI robot has a beautiful 7-inch IPS LCD screen and powerful 4-wheels pre-integrated into its body for autonomous indoor driving.
- It instantly responds to the voice call “Hey Misa,” and can perform spoken dialogues and various interactive skills using advanced natural language understanding (NLU).
- Safety features such as fall prevention cliff sensors, obstacle ultrasonic sensors, and distance sensors are utilized to move safely over table tops and flooring without crashing or falling.
- The total value of the program is $250 (approximately 38,000 Japanese yen) and comes preloaded from the start with secure educational games, interactive e-books, videos, and learning apps that are free of advertisements and inappropriate billing inducements.
good point
- In addition to its role as a conversational assistant, such as voice interaction, it also has extremely practical security features, such as two-way video calling and a watchdog function that allows the user to freely patrol the room from a remote location.
- With an autonomous mode that allows the robot to avoid obstacles and run on its own, it simply toddles around the home, making it a wonderful playmate and observer for pets and children.
- There is no need for complicated assembly or procurement of separate batteries, and the lithium-ion battery is built into the main unit, so the system can be installed without the stress of initial setup.
- There is an abundance of closed and safe educational apps that do not generate harmful advertisements or unauthorized access to the outside world, making them extremely good digital educational materials that parents can leave with their children with peace of mind.
Concerns (MISA Disadvantages)
- The standard retail price in Japan is set at around 94,458 yen (including tax), which requires a large initial investment compared to typical stationary smart speakers and inexpensive cameras for watching over people.
- Daily conversation and listening to instructions in English is extremely fluent and advanced, but support for other languages, including Japanese, is currently in the beta (BETA) stage, and some unnatural translation expressions and listening time lags can be seen when catching conversations in Japanese.
- With 2GB of main memory (RAM) and a dedicated Android 9.0-based OS, users accustomed to the latest high-end smartphones may experience a slight tug or time lag when launching complex applications or switching between menu screens.
Users who may be suitable for
- Families who want to start their children’s English and programming (STEM) education at home in a fun, game-like environment, instead of sending them to expensive schools.
- Those who want to check on their elderly family members or their dog or cat while they are away from home in real time by remotely operating the robot from outside the house while patrolling the house, instead of using a fixed camera, while considering a budget in the 90,000-yen range.
- Gadget fans who feel that the static appearance of conventional stationary smart speakers with displays is not enough for them, and are looking for a “dynamic family robot” that moves around like a pet and responds with emotional reactions.

rough conclusion
MISA is a “multifunctional family robot that performs more than three functions in one adorable, actively-driven body,” which combines multiple practical functions: an educational tablet for children, an autonomous patrol monitoring camera for the entire house, and a personal AI assistant loved by the whole family.
The purchase price in Japan is a full-fledged 94,000 yen, but it is a gadget with high practical value that is differentiated from toy robots that are merely for decoration and packaged with an advanced autonomous movement system and a paid educational program worth approximately 250 dollars.

Ideal product for children’s learning
Great product for your child’s learning and mental growth. My son loves Little Inventor, Mamin and Bean Maze. The Christmas specials and iheart radio are very cute. Our Misa is getting to know me better and better each day. Even if I am not that close to her, she understands us better. It is interesting that when I ask her a question, she will answer it if the TV is on.
My children love it. English is not our primary language and I encourage them to speak it.

I got this robot last month and we love it! I would recommend buying it!
All I can say is that my whole family loves it. It is a great learning/educational product with lots of potential. It introduces kids to coding, math, and language at the beginner level and gradually moves on to the advanced level. It is truly a great product for all ages. My daughters love it and I, as their mother, finally get to interact with them through the Misa connect app.
Also, customer/technical support was very prompt and helpful. Best STEM robot on the market!
Quotes from Amazon Customer Reviews
Many of the good reviews praise the fact that, unlike a mere smart device, it is designed to be safe and allow children to naturally focus on STEM learning and English picture books without being interrupted by harmful ads or beguiling billing pop-ups. They also appreciate the practicality of the camera, which can be freely moved around the home and used as an indoor monitoring camera while at work or on the go.

Product Returns
I am returning this item. I received the complete package, but the voice prompts/commands do not work very well. Also, when I use the speaker as a karaoke it makes a weird sound. The robot is very slow to analyze what I am saying. If the voice prompt is fast it will not return.
Quotes from Amazon Customer Reviews
I’m not happy.
I bought the device for my child’s birthday.
- We are facing the problem of slow response time. Poor response time when asked questions.
(MISA seems grumpy and I feel like my money was wasted)- iOS app monitoring fails after 40 seconds
- Video call fails after 1 minute. I wish I could turn it back on. The internet connection is good and the problem has been confirmed. In addition, the software of the MISA is up-to-date.
Please let me know if you have a solution.
Quotes from Amazon Customer Reviews
Not recommended. Item does not match description.
Product is very bad. Does not match description. Not recommended. Voice commands are ineffective.
Quotes from Amazon Customer Reviews
Complaints about the Japanese language are that the Japanese dialogue is still in its infancy (beta version), which makes it prone to listening mistakes, the screen response time due to the 2GB memory specification limitation, and the slight lag before the voice assistant is up and running. Continuous localization enhancement and lightweight updates to the system UI are awaited to further improve its perfection as a gadget.
comprehensive evaluation
MISA is a highly ambitious and futuristic family that combines multiple consumer electronics functions in one highly dynamic package: an autonomous security patrol camera, a hub that connects smart homes, and above all, a top-of-the-line educational learning tablet that allows children to learn without worry. It is a robot. In particular, the ability to remotely control the robot like a radio controller from outside the home via the “MISA Connect” app and watch over the entire house is a powerful weapon unique to MISA that no other fixed-installed smart robot or tabletop robot can imitate.
On the other hand, there are clear points that require further improvement, such as the fact that the product requires a considerable investment, with a retail price of approximately 94,000 yen in Japan, and the fact that voice interaction and system response in Japanese are still partially in development (beta version). However, considering the abundance of safe STEM educational programs that children can engage in immediately after purchase, and the potential for crime prevention and family communication that can be stimulated with just one robot in the home, this is a smart robot with a very high level of ownership satisfaction for families who want to anticipate the next generation of family life. It can be said that the Smart Robot is a highly satisfying product for families who want to anticipate the next generation of family life.
