With the Mia app (version 1.25.0), you can now choose how Mia talks in Conversation Mode.
- Choose a speaking style: "Soft and polite" or "Casual, like a friend"
- Have Mia answer in Osaka or Hakata dialect (female or male voice)
- Set Mia's color (white or black), and her personality in conversation follows that color
The speaking style and dialects apply when Mia talks in Japanese. When you talk to her in English, she answers in English as before. Mia's color and personality apply in both languages.
Requirement
Conversation Mode needs a Conversation Model (the device) and the monthly Premium service. See Mia's Two-Way Conversation Mode for details.

How to set it
1. Open "Conversation Voice, Style & Speed"
On the Home screen of the app, tap "Change Personality & Voice". In the "Conversation Mode" section of the "Mia's Personality & Voice" screen, choose "Conversation Voice, Style & Speed".
2. Choose a speaking style
Tap "Speaking style" and choose one:

| Casual, like a friend | Someone living alone, or anyone who wants easygoing chats |
The speaking style applies when Mia speaks standard Japanese. With a dialect, Mia speaks in the style of that dialect.
3. Choose a dialect
Tap "Dialect" and choose from:
- Standard Japanese (default)
- Osaka (female)
- Osaka (male)
- Hakata (female)
- Hakata (male)
With a dialect, Mia answers in a dialect voice instead of the conversation character's voice. Your speaking speed setting also applies to the dialect voice. If the dialect voice is unavailable, the conversation voice is used.
Once a dialect is chosen, the speaking style is greyed out.

Set Mia's color, and her personality follows
There are two Mias: easygoing White Mia and dependable Black Mia. When you set the color of your Mia in the app, her personality in Conversation Mode matches it.

Ask "What kind of personality do you have?", and White Mia talks about her easygoing side while Black Mia talks about her dependable side. Ask about her sibling, and she tells you about the other one.

How to set the color
- If no color is set yet, the Home screen asks "Which color is your Mia?". Choose white or black there
- To change it later, open "Switch Mia Device" in the "Device" section of the Home screen, edit your Mia, and choose "Change color"
Once the color is set, the daily Mia picture on the Home screen, and the pictures shown while Mia sleeps or is offline, match your Mia's color. This also works on the Standard Model.

How this differs from Mia's 47 regional dialects
Mia has long been able to speak in the dialects of all 47 prefectures of Japan. Those dialects are for her everyday talk at set times (greetings, weather and schedule notices), and work on both the Standard and Conversation Models.
The Osaka and Hakata dialects here are for her answers when you talk to her in Conversation Mode.

FAQ
Can Mia converse in dialects other than Osaka and Hakata?
For Conversation Mode answers, Osaka and Hakata are available for now. For everyday talk at set times, you can choose from all 47 prefectures.
Does the casual style make Mia rude?
No. The casual style is a friendly way of talking. Mia's care for you and the rules about what she must not say stay the same.
I set the wrong color
You can change it anytime from "Change color" when editing your Mia in "Switch Mia Device".
Does the Standard Model support speaking styles?
No. Speaking styles and conversation dialects are settings for Conversation Mode answers.
